Tweed Valley Hospital wins planning and design award

Health Infrastructure’s Tweed Valley Hospital Development has received the 2024 IAP2 Australasia Core Values Infrastructure Award for Excellence in Planning and Design.

The award celebrates projects and organisations that are at the forefront of public participation and their commitment to excellence.

Health Infrastructure Acting Chief Executive Emma Skulander highlighted the significance of the award, which recognises the Tweed Valley Hospital project and its innovative approach to community participation and engagement throughout planning and delivery.

“This award reflects what can be achieved through meaningful engagement with local communities. From the beginning, the project team prioritised an inclusive and innovative engagement strategy, and respected and acknowledged cultural identity.”

Amanda Bock, Executive Director, Rural and Regional, said, “The most rewarding part of this six-year journey has been the genuine relationships the team has built with the community, local staff, and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander communities.

“From implementing arts programs, local career expos, garden picnics and planting workshops, the Tweed Valley Hospital project is a testament to the power of innovative engagement practices that has ensured that we were able to connect with the community in meaningful and relevant ways.

“These relationships, that have been the foundation of success ... are reflected throughout the new hospital campus in a variety of ways — from the landscaping to the art and cultural elements.”
