Co-payment Plan Dumped
Tuesday, 03 March, 2015
The Federal Government has announced it will drop its GP co-payment plan.
Assistant Treasurer Josh Frydenberg revealed the decision on the ABC's Q&A Program last night and it has been confirmed. According to the ABC, Federal Cabinet discussed the move last night and the decision was taken to the joint party room this morning.
This morning, the ABC reported that Mr Frydenberg said to the program's Tony Jones that there was not enough support for the co-payment, particularly in the senate.
The ABC is also reporting that Finance Minister Mathias Cormann had also indicated an announcement was imminent.
"Those findings were considered by the Government and will be considered by the party room this morning and no doubt there'll be some other announcements after that," Senator Cormann said.
