You’ll be less frustrated by challenging interactions and your patients will have improved outcomes.

The new, free Indigenous Health and Cultural Competency eLearning modules series by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine explores essential knowledge and hands-on skills that will enrich the quality and effectiveness of all your clinical interactions and particularly with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and other culturally diverse patients.
Since their introduction in early 2014, the eLearning modules have received overwhelming praise from doctors and healthcare professionals throughout Australia.
“The modules have increased my awareness of the contributing factors involved in presentation, patient satisfaction, patient compliance and approaches to take to ensure optimal treatment outcomes.” – ED Registrar
“Excellent! They have made me rethink my years of practice” – Retrieval Specialist
The series presents the expertise of emergency specialists, Indigenous health care workers and cultural education experts in innovative and engaging ways including animations, interactive case studies and critical reflective exercises that allow you to apply the learning to your own clinical context.
“I’m really impressed with the detail, the practical skills, the videos and the case histories that are within the modules. These are the real, day-to-day cases that we treat in ED.” – ED Registrar
Culturally competent, patient centred care has been shown to improve clinical outcomes and enhance equity of access and use of health services by Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and other culturally and linguistically diverse patients.
This eLearning series is part of ACEM’s Indigenous Health and Cultural Competency program, an initiative made possible by funding from the Federal Government.
“Patients need to feel valued, safe and respected”
