Hill Rom: The Hill-Rom “Mobility is Life” concept
Friday, 12 September, 2014
[hr]Hill-Rom is committed to the concept that mobilising patients early and supporting their independence improves life – in the hospital and at home.[hr]
By enabling caregivers to provide efficient care, have more time at the bedside and get patients mobilised safely, positive outcomes can be achieved. Easier and safe working conditions for caregivers allow more time for the optimal care of patients, which can accelerate recovery and increase efficiency.
Achieving this requires a commitment to continuous innovation, assistive technology, quality and clinical validation.
Hill-Rom researches, develops and manufactures products and programmes based on the mission of enhancing outcomes for patients and caregivers.
Health care facilities worldwide have very similar challenges and needs: improved quality and outcomes, cost control, reduced length of stay and re-admissions, and reducing risk of preventable falls or hospital-acquired diseases such as nosocomial infections or pressure injuries.
The clinical concept that mobility assists patients to recover faster is supported by published evidence. Early and structured mobilisation programmes have been shown to decrease both Intensive Care Unit and general hospital length of stay. Along with our extensive product range, Hill-Rom is dedicated to supporting facilities with Clinical education and programmes to assist in developing safe mobilisation protocols and to address NSQHS Standard 10: Preventing Falls and Harm from Falls.
Mobility is the basis for the Hill-Rom portfolio of sophisticated bed products, service and clinical support. Hill-Rom provides a total set of solutions that work together to encourage early mobility and facilitate safe, efficient and dignified care. Features such as:
- Solid Split Siderails with Embedded easy to use Controls
- “Brake Off” Alarm
- Low Height Indicator
- Integrated Foot extension Underbed Light
- Underbed Light
Are fast becoming standard features on beds within the Healthcare arena.
New technology such as Connectivity is also a major feature of Hill-Rom’s bed range. This technology provides configurable alerts designed to help reduce the risk of patient falls and improve patient safety based on real-time bed status information. Falls risk alerts provided include “brake not set,” “bedrail down,” “bed exit armed,” and “bed not in low position” These alerts Hill- Rom can link your beds directly to a central monitor or selected staff members so they can be alerted when a bed exit alarm is activated and act to prevent a patient from falling.
To complement our bed portfolio, Hill-Rom’s Liko range of Mobile and Overhead Lifting systems is also an important key element to our focus on safe patient mobilisation.
