Hansen Yuncken to deliver UNSW Health Translation Hub

The next phase of the Randwick Health and Innovation Precinct is set to take flight, with Hansen Yuncken part of the consortium awarded the contract to deliver the $600 million UNSW Sydney’s Health Translation Hub project.

Building on more than 60 years of teaching hospital affiliations, the Health Translation Hub realises the university’s long-term aspiration to work in close partnership with the Randwick precinct.

The Health Translation Hub will bring together educational and medical researchers, clinicians, educators, industry partners and public health officials to drive excellence and support the rapid translation of innovative research and education into improved patient care and better community health outcomes.

It will include collaborative, purpose-built co-working spaces for researchers, educators and industry partners to connect, plus education, training and research rooms. There will be clinical schools for Women’s and Children’s Health, Psychiatry and the Prince of Wales Hospital.

The project will feature ambulatory care clinics, support facilities including retail premises and over 2500 m2 of publicly accessible open space for staff, students, patients and the community.

Hansen Yuncken Chairman David Beslich is delighted at the opportunity to deliver this state-of-the-art, community-focused health hub and said this project would have a strong focus on the future of education and the important role in transforming communities.

Australian owned Hansen Yuncken is the design and construction lead for the Plenary Health consortium contracted to finance, design, develop and manage the Health Translation Hub. It comprises Plenary Group as developer, investor, development and asset manager and co-owner; ISPT, supported by HESTA and UniSuper, as majority investor and co-owner; and Architectus as lead architect.

Comprehensive planning is underway ahead of construction scheduled to begin in 2023.
