eHealth NSW Chief Dr Zoran Bolevich to lead AIHW
Dr Zoran Bolevich has been appointed as the new CEO of the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) on a five-year term.
Federal Minister for Health and Aged Care Mark Butler MP said, “Dr Bolevich has spent years of his life working to improve health and medical data standards in Australia. I can’t think of a better person to lead the AIHW. I look forward to working with him to use the most cutting-edge information and data to improve our health policies.”
Bolevich will leave his role as Chief Executive eHealth NSW and Chief Information Officer NSW Health at the end of May.
Before joining eHealth NSW, he worked at the NSW Ministry of Health as executive director for health system information and performance reporting, and as acting deputy secretary for system purchasing and performance. Bolevich has served as a member of the AIHW Board since February 2016 and with the announcement, has resigned from the AIHW Board.
Butler thanked Matthew James who has been acting as AIHW CEO since the departure of Rob Heferen in late-February.
“Matthew James is an invaluable asset to the AIHW. His passion and determination for data and information improvement coupled with his understanding of the broader health and welfare landscape mean that the AIHW has been in excellent hands over the last few months,” Roxon said.
