Scholarship opportunity for Pacific Islands nurses

The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) has launched a new scholarship program aimed at further strengthening its ties with the nursing profession in the Pacific.

Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward FACN, ACN’s CEO, said that the ACN Foundation is offering two international scholarships for nursing leaders from Pacific Island Nations to participate in ACN’s Institute of Leadership Nurse Executive Program.

“ACN has been working closely with our Pacific Islands nursing colleagues for more than five years,” Ward said. “We have been providing Graduate Certificates with the assistance of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS).

“These new scholarships — worth $15,000 each — will build even closer links between the nursing profession in Australia and nurses from the 16 Pacific Island Nations.”

ACN is working closely with Pacific Islands nursing groups to encourage applications.

All applicants seeking to participate in this program are required to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Be currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) or similar within their own country.
  • Have a minimum of six years’ postgraduate experience and be able to demonstrate an ability to meet the requirements of ACN’s Nurse Executive Capability Framework.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience at the nurse executive level or an ability to work at the nurse executive level.

The scholarship application form is available at: https://acn.formstack.com/forms/official_nurse_executive_leadership_program_scholarship_application.
