700+ experts to showcase latest in digital health

Coming up at ICC Sydney from 8–12 July, MedInfo 2023 — the 19th world congress on medical and health — offers the opportunity to connect with experts in the field of digital health from around the world. The 700+ speakers featured in the program include renowned researchers, industry leaders, clinicians, data scientists, entrepreneurs and policymakers — all showcasing the latest digital health research and innovations.

Timely discussions at this year’s event include a plenary panel held on Tuesday 11th that poses the question, “Can digital health rise to the challenge of climate change?” The speakers exploring this important topic include IT and healthcare expert Prof Enrico Coiera FAIDH, Director, Australian Institute of Health Innovation; Mubaraka Ibrahim, Acting Chief Information Officer, Emirates Health Services; climate scientist Emeritus Prof Lesley Hughes, Pro-Chancellor, Macquarie University; and gastroenterologist Prof Nicholas Talley AC, Distinguished Laureate Professor, University of Newcastle.

More broadly, the program will highlight topics such as: ‘Advancing the digital health workforce’, ‘Allied Health’, ‘Digital health executives and senior managers’ and ‘Artificial Intelligence’.

It also includes a specific strand for those new to digital health. As part of this strand (during the Tuesday 11th opening plenary at 8.30 am), life partners Sari and Ashley McKinnon will share their personal experience of navigating the healthcare system following Ashley’s diagnosis of acute renal failure. Through a carer's lens, Sari recognised the tremendous potential that digital health capabilities could deliver to improve the healthcare experience for patients, their carers and care providers.

The ‘Digital health executives and senior managers’ topic will include session 428: ‘Building energy for change is a must’, on Tuesday 11th at 1.50–3.20 pm. Facilitated by Dr Helen Bevan, NHS Strategic Advisor, the session is billed as essential for those whose organisations are going through transformational change.

MedInfo has created a dedicated webpage for each of these highlights so that attendees can more easily explore the range of workshops and sessions being held in relation to each topic.
