Calvary expands Care 24-7 partnership to include southern Tasmania

Calvary Lenah Valley Hospital’s private emergency department will return to operating 24 hours, seven days a week from 19 August, with a new partnership with Care 24-7, a privately run emergency medical specialist practice.

The companies have long shared the commitment to provide private emergency care and have agreed to extend the South Australian partnership, ongoing since 2020, to southern Tasmanians.

Melissa Evans, Calvary Regional Chief Executive, Tasmania, said, “We had reduced our emergency department hours due to medical staffing shortages, which are essential for safe clinical care, and this partnership with Care 24-7 will ensure we have clinically appropriate care available around the clock, seven days a week.

“Final preparations are underway, including medical staff appointments, cosmetic upgrades to the department and signage. New technology implementation and training will soon begin to ensure an enhanced experience for patients and staff.

“This partnership offers southern Tasmanians the benefits of Calvary’s 80-plus-year tradition of providing the Hobart community with contemporary, safe and quality care through hospital and home care services, combined with Care 24-7’s highly regarded emergency specialists aided by world-class medical technology,” Evans said.

Care 24-7 Managing Director Dr Sharad Pandit said the partnership was a welcome extension of the close working relationship with Calvary and would capitalise on Care 24-7’s people, systems and processes, which resulted in more than 92% of patients likely to recommend emergency departments under its management.

“We have a longstanding partnership with Calvary in Australia and we now look forward to working with the whole team in Hobart to deliver a world-class emergency service for the people of southern Tasmania,” Pandit said.

Care 24-7 closely monitors patient experience measures and physician performance, and has a patient NPS score across each of its sites at >92%.
