More highlights revealed in countdown to MedInfo 2023
The Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH) is in the process of putting together the final touches for MedInfo 2023, with less than a week to go until the major digital health learning event begins on 8 July. Sixty-three countries are now represented at the event, with registrations continuing to come in.
The institute has released several more MedInfo highlights:
Patient and consumer stories
Patient and consumer stories have been featured as part of AIDH’s conferences for over a decade. Seeking to make the event more accessible to those advocates who do not have the means to attend, in 2023 MedInfo launched its ‘Patients Included’ initiative, which provides the opportunity for consumer advocates to attend its conferences fully paid for by AIDH.
Out of the 27 applications received for MedInfo 2023, four MedInfo Consumer Scholars have been announced: Bruce Prince, Graham Tyson, Dan Petrovic and Joanne Marie Baumgartner. The Consumer Scholars will be at MedInfo 2023 for the duration of the event.
Fireside chats with Karen DeSalvo and David Feinberg
Two global leaders in healthcare technology will appear on stage in conversation with AIDH CEO Dr Louise Schaper during the Monday plenary session.
Dr Karen DeSalvo has been Google’s Chief Health Officer since 2019. Previously she served as the Acting Assistant Secretary for Health, National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and Director of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).
Dr David Feinberg was president and CEO of Cerner, now Oracle Health, where he led teams delivering tools and technology to improve the patient and caregiver experience. As a paediatric psychiatrist, David built his early career around helping children and families. He served as president and CEO of both UCLA Health and Geisinger Health.
Standards and interoperability
Panellists for the Day 2 morning session of the Standards and interoperability stream include Jeremy Sullivan (Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care), Grahame Grieve (FHIR Product Director, HL7 Australia Board), Kate Ebrill (HL7au Board, Interoperability Lead CSIRO), Reuben Daniels (HL7 Au Board, Deputy FHIR Product Director) and Diego Kaminker (HL7 International).
