SA Health to roll out Modeus's electronic drug register platform

South Australian Health has appointed healthcare software company Modeus as the preferred supplier for the Electronic Controlled Drug Register for SA Pharmacy Sites.

Modeus will roll out its HS8 Controlled Medication Register application across the SA Pharmacy Sites. The system, live in over 60 Australian hospitals, is designed to integrate with many hospital systems including iPharmacy, Patient Administration Systems (PAS) and Active Directory, removing duplication with an aim to make workflows quicker and more accurate.

HS8 allows hospitals to transition from manual paper-based controlled drug registers to an intelligent platform that greatly decreases the time spent on controlled drug record keeping.  HS8 has safety features to prevent medication errors as well as closed loop governance and security to ensure the movement of controlled medications are tracked and accounted for.

Modeus CEO Carl Zufi said, “We acknowledge this as another fantastic opportunity for our company, and we know your hospitals will be receiving a world-class medication management system that will significantly benefit their daily workflows and processes. I am also immensely proud of the Modeus team to deliver HS8 to South Australian hospitals and we look forward to implementing the system in the near future.”

SA Health’s Michael Bakker, SA Pharmacy’s Digital Health Portfolio Lead, said, “We are pleased to be partnering with Modeus to deliver HS8 to our network of South Australian Public Hospital Pharmacies. SA Health is determined to lead the way in best practice medication management solutions, and by futureproofing controlled drug workflow management via implementing the HS8 platform, we are confident that this will result in improved efficiencies, as well as improved medication safety and compliance throughout the SA Health network.
